Spirits
These unique items can be
used as shawls, scarves or elegant wraps.
Each one has it’s own design
and colours and is never repeated.
It takes a long time to make each one as I have to wait for the
spirit to move me.
The inspirations for each scarf come from the wonderful Ulster
landscape and heritage.
We are having very variable weather conditions
this year varying wildly from soft gentle springtime to thunderous
downpours and humid conditions. These scarves have been inspired
by the changing conditions.
Free Spirits ‘Spring’ is knit
with very fine mohair yarn from the Angora goats at Breezemount
Farm in Bangor, Co Down, and a shining strand of pale blue has
been added to create the misty spring morning atmosphere. The
pale blue/green definition yarn is Welsh handspun, handyed pure
wool.
Approx 65 ins long x 11 ins wide
Must be carefully hand washed only.
For those that cannot wear mohair I also use fine Italian Merino
yarns in various shades of gray.
The coloured yarns are pure wool hand-dyed in Wales. I usually
include a strand of fine sparkling colour, which will catch the
light wonderfully.
As these are pure natural yarns they must be carefully handwashed
and dried flat. Some colour melding is usual because of the hand
dyed nature of the yarn, which adds to the unique characteristics
of each one.
Using grey Italian Merino with a strand
of purple sparkle, and grape/ green/ with flashes of orange/red
this wrap carries all the colours and excitement of a thunderstorm.
Approx 55 ins long x 14 ins wide.
Must be carefully hand washed only.
